Operating systems and third party programs can update themselves automatically, but there are no such features for setup files, making it hard to maintain a library with installation packages. If a new version of a certain program is made available, you must find and download a new setup file manually. Ketarin can automate this task and it lets you maintain a well organized database. While running, the application will monitor websites of your choice and it will replace your setup files if newer versions become available.

Ketarin is free and open source. It comes in a small package, which can be downloaded in a few moments and it doesn't need to be installed. The application requires .NET Framework 2.0 or higher to run, which should not be a problem for modern Windows versions.

Setup packages can be stored in files or folders of your choice. You can add the packages to a list, on the software's user interface and use a series of options to update them, check for new updates, install their components and more. New setup packages can be added manually, from an XML file, or imported from an online database.

The software allows you to make various configurations, on a tabbed properties window, if you decide to add a setup package manually. Besides specifying an application's name and category, you can also type or paste a URL, to monitor a website or insert a FileHippo ID. If you paste a URL, you can also set up one or more variables, on a separate window, to make sure that Ketarin will download the latest package versions.

Other rules can be defined on the same properties window, but on different tabs. Depending on your settings, the application will not download specific setup files simultaneously with other applications, it will check for updates without downloading anything and more. It is also possible to type commands, which can be executed before or after downloading a file.

If you wish to import a setup package from an online database, you just need to type its name and hit a Search button, on a different window. Ketarin will find the files you are looking for and you can import them instantly. The best part is that you can edit a file's properties, even if you import it from a file or an online database. Instead of adding a file manually, you can just import it and adjust its parameters, which is much faster. The setup packages are sorted in alphabetical order and they will be updated automatically, if new versions are made available, but they can be updated on demand as well.

Pros

Ketarin allows you to keep track of your setup packages, by organizing them in a list. You can update the files yourself or let the application do it automatically. It is also possible to set up numerous rules, so you can update your setup files whenever or however you want.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention. While using Ketarin, your setup packages will stay up to date, at all times, without any user input.
